The Flight or Fight Response

A concept in which i find great interest is in how hearing a certain, unexpected, eery sound in the middle of the night such as a window breaking and  footsteps right after can trigger the physiological reaction that determines your immediate behavior. Some people feel strong, capable, and determined to take immediate action concerning matters such as the one previously mentioned. In contrast, other individuals whom feel physically and mentally inferior might draw a different response in which they hide or attempt to avoid the conflict at-hand. if you're a little confused about the specifics of the autonomic nervous system I've provided a video below that helped simplify the concept for me.

In closing, i'd like to reiterate my fascination for the autonomic nervous system and the effects which it has on different individuals. perhaps if it is studied more closely, therapeutic and coping advice can be given to those who react negatively to responses of the aforementioned concept

  1. I really liked how you used this as an example to further explain the autonomic nervous system! It definitely helped to clear the concept up for me and I had never even thought of that being afraid after hearing a noise is caused by our reaction to certain situations. How interesting that others do feel superior, I'm the opposite! The video was very informative, thanks for sharing.
