An extremely dangerous mental condition can apparently appear to be influenced by many factors, all completely random. Researchers say the onset of schizophrenia is not all due to one specific gene. they have also found that the more closely you are biologically related to someone with schizophrenia, the greater your own probability of schizophrenia. the chances of siblings having schizophrenia is far greater in mono zygotic twins than dizygotic twins. for a long time this evidence has been used to backup the hypothesis that schizophrenia is genetically influenced however there are a few limitations that fully prevent this hypothesis from being more generally accepted. although a single gene has not yet been located, the search has been narrowed down to about a dozen genes all which are common amongst individuals with schizophrenia and are currently working to analyze the causalities and effects caused by the malfunction of these genes.
